During my time in the Middle East, I came across an Israeli family and offered to photograph them. They accepted the offer and invited me to come to their home in an Israeli settlement. Things got very interesting from here. The settlement was located on the West Bank of the Jordan, an Israeli attempt to lay claim to the land held by Jordan. This meant high tensions, guns on belts, and an overall unease of the area. While I never felt fully unsafe, the atmosphere and the lack of ample time to take the photographs lead to a very frantic attempt to make the most of the situation.
In the end, the photos came out and I got to make these incredible memories for this family – and now I have a special story of my own.
